Warranty

Scope of Warranty

Top Caddy hereby warrants that the M1 electric golf buggy shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of 12 months from the original date of purchase. The warranty coverage shall include the following:

  • 12 months coverage on mechanical and electronic components*;
  • 12 months coverage on lithium batteries and associated charging equipment.

*Subject to the terms herein, Top Caddy or an authorised service provider shall repair or replace, at its sole discretion, any defective part or component, provided that:

a) The M1 has been operated, maintained, and serviced in accordance with the user instructions and maintenance recommendations; and
b) The repair or replacement has been undertaken by an authorised Top Caddy service agent, or by the product owner with prior written authorisation from Top Caddy.

This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not exclude, restrict, or modify, any rights or remedies available to consumers under the New Zealand Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer protection legislation.

Consumers are entitled to a replacement or refund in the event of a major failure, and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Where the failure does not constitute a major failure, the consumer is entitled to have the product repaired or replaced within a reasonable time.

To lodge a warranty claim, the owner must immediately cease using the product and contact the original point of purchase or a Top Caddy authorised service centre. Direct contact may also be made with Top Caddy using the contact details provided in the product manual. Proof of purchase is a mandatory requirement for any warranty claim to be processed.

Exclusions and Limitations

(A) Warranty Exclusions

This warranty shall not apply to:

  • Ordinary wear and tear, including but not limited to tyres, handles, elastic straps, painted surfaces, battery performance degradation, axle thread wear, charging ports, remote buttons, and screen glass;
  • Minor cosmetic imperfections that do not materially affect the operation of the product and are within Top Caddy’s quality standards.

(B) Warranty Voiding Events

This warranty shall be deemed null and void under the following circumstances:

  • Failure of the Battery Management System (BMS) due to negligent charging practices, including complete discharge to zero capacity;
  • Modifications, alterations, or repairs carried out by any unauthorised individual or entity;
  • Use of parts or accessories not expressly approved by Top Caddy;
  • Continued operation of the product after any defect or fault has been identified;
  • Damage to the seat structure and/or seat bracket;
  • Submersion in water, whether partial or full, resulting in damage to electronic or drive components;
  • Impact or collision with bunkers, kerbs, course hazards, or structures;
  • Impact damage caused by golf balls, clubs, or similar equipment;
  • Damage resulting from external force or physical misuse of the product or its battery;
  • Overheating or failure of motor/electronics due to overloading (e.g. uphill assistance), or operation while stationary;
  • All implied warranties not mandated by statute are expressly disclaimed;
  • No liability shall be accepted for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, to the extent such exclusion is permitted by law.

Important Notice Regarding Water Damage:
Where the M1 is exposed to water resulting in partial or full submersion, Top Caddy advises that the unit be treated as irreparably damaged. The cost of replacing the water-affected components, including labour, will likely exceed the value of a replacement unit. If the customer elects to proceed with repair, all affected internal components, including but not limited to motors, gearboxes, controllers, and electronics, must be replaced simultaneously. Partial component replacement on a water-damaged M1 shall not be covered under this warranty.

Top Caddy does not warrant batteries affected by water ingress. For safety reasons, such batteries must not be reused under any circumstances due to potential fire hazards.

Warranty coverage applies exclusively in the country of original purchase. In some cases, Top Caddy may supply replacement components under warranty; however, freight and installation costs shall be borne by the purchaser.

Warranty on Replaced Parts

Components replaced under warranty shall remain covered only for the duration of the original warranty period applicable to the M1. The act of replacing a component under this warranty shall not extend the overall warranty term.

This warranty is non-transferable and shall apply solely to the original purchaser of the product.
